Licensing in the Digital Age: Royalty Free Versus Copyright Free

As a creator, I want to produce as much of my own content as I can. There are instances where that idea becomes impossible. Instrumentals is one of those current challenges.

I can write, craft, and publish my cover art, stories, and websites, but sometimes even a creator needs a helping hand. Since I would like to produce meaningful and engaging book trailers and presentations for my Undawnted Channel on YouTube (Please subscribe!), I have endeavored to use other musician's instrumentals to assist me.

I have read numerous license agreements, and have purchased some music that you have already heard. Still, the royalty and copyright issues are murky at best. You can use X song if you follow these guidelines, royalty free. Yes, but I can use them for my commercial, known as a book trailer?

The next challenge is: who is being paid for the music? The three songs I have bought so far were paid to one person, not the artist who created the song. So, I went on a fact finding mission to cut out the middleman. I emailed a couple of musicians on a site to see what royalty free means to them, and do I need to buy a lifetime license from them? Important questions.

In the coming years, I may have to sit down and write a few songs on the computer. Yes, I have written songs in the past. With a grandfather who was a piano tuner and mover, as well as a jazz pianist, music runs in my veins. I spent a year in competitive orchestra and two years in band, playing the violin. When a string instrument was unfavorable to playing in a high school marching band, I opted for four years of choir.

Until my health supports more activity besides editing, reading, and writing, I will continue to be bounced around, uncertain as to how I can use "royalty free music." I rather purchase from the creator to ensure a legal license than using middlemen. I hope that the prices are within my budget.

I do not want to cheat anyone, but I also like to eat.

What it comes down to is the fine print. What does it actually say versus how I am interpreting it?

Legalese, anyone?

Have a great and wonderful day.

A paranormal law enforcement division, through specified taskforces within Legacy, sends special agents to investigate and halt activities against the mortal realm. All the while, the organization keeps humanity ignorant of its existence and the unseen forces behind the everyday curtain of normalcy.

When ghouls, goblins, magicians, sorcerers, werewolves, and the plethora of undead become rogue actors, who are you going to call? The Special Agents with the Legacy Taskforce.

If there are paranormal problems, you can bet that one of their special agents has already been assigned to the task.

The Creative Mind in a World Gone Mad: How do We Take Back Our Imaginations?

Once I thought that the human imagination was boundless and beautiful overflowing with hope, in the years since, I have discovered that some of our mind's have ventured from the possible, probable, and poetic into a landscape of fear and dread.

The creative mind's "what if" moment of variability had been intersected. When an elite few realized that their dystopian future would shrink the quantum possibilities into one narrow passage, a new era of manipulation began. Humans don't have informed consent; we have manufactured consent.

The most steered aspects of our society have been the sciences and the arts. That cross-section of our culture has been handicapped, and our development stunted by this destructive agenda. Imagination? Creativity? ...where?

Anyone can observe the unimaginative movies, predetermined book publications, and repetitive musical interludes. As a child of the 1980's, I am bored with this curated selection of negative, trash-filled redundancy.

In the past decade, I have become concerned by the lack of original thought in our society. Instead, I perceive a propagandist's point of view influencing us. Yes, even in the arts and sciences is this negative agenda pushing forward. Should I name the offenses, or, can you decipher these issues for yourself?

As an artist, poet, and writer, what should I make of this forced slant stepping on our abilities, skills, and lifestyles? Why am I not allowed to embrace my creative side and ask the questions that beg: What if? The moment that my imagination takes flight into the uncharted territories of the cosmos, I must censor myself. I must refrain from my innate calling as a creative spirit.

Only when an agenda is corrupt and harmful must all other competition to it be silenced. No questions. No free-thought. No imagination.

Why? Why do a few believe that they outweigh the many? What happened to the imagination?

Here at Undawnted, imagination is fearless and will ask questions of the cultural captains: what happened that would allow you to believe you are more important in my creative life than I am? Why would you believe you are better than the rest of us? Why must we believe what you believe? Why must I attend, pray, and be a disciple at your church?

Are those not fair questions to ask? I feel that this elite mindset is of: do as you are told. Period. Another form of corporate toxicity demands more from me than it gives in return.

That leads into: why is there a conservatorship being placed on the creative world? When did I sign that legal contract? Is it in the vague Terms of Service of the services you don't provide anymore when you turned your back on freedom of speech? Because I certainly have not been evaluated in a court of law as incompetent to stand trial.

Why can I not tell people to research the findings of Dr. Naomi Wolf (Ph.D.), Dr. Robert Malone (M.D. and inventor of the MRNA technology), Dr. Peter McCullough (M.D.), VAERS reporting, or even Edward Dowd? Is the establishment afraid of real data?

When someone in a position of leadership be it government, corporate, education, or think tank does everything in his or her power to stifle creativity, shut down dissent, and make you censor yourself, then how can our culture have imagination?

One way. One mind... sounds more like the Borg to me, than a democracy.

When it comes down to it, we aren't being respected as adults. So if you are wondering why I speak out, this factor is high on the list. Are these governments, corporations, institutions, or think tanks respecting you if you have to censor yourself in order to appease their short-sided agenda?

What is the Agenda? The World Economic Forums' Great Reset that plunges the world into an economic depression? Do we really want that nonsense? I for one did not elect Klaus Schwab into office. Did you?

So, creative community of artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians, do you need someone to make your decisions for you? Or, are you a capable, cogent adult that abides by the laws of the United States?

Because "creative" does not have the word: we, in it; but the letters do spell: I. As well, "imagination" does not have the word: we, in it; but the letters do spell: I. Those words embody the artful presence of individuality. The arts cannot and should not be dictated by a collective. That is why imagination is fearless because this journey is for the courageous individual.

Then why are we doing this? So, find your courage, individuate, and start asking questions.

Creative courage is contagious!

Have a great and insightful day.

Tribute to Prince

With our visual, digital society artists and musicians have an opportunity to capture our imagination. Prince was one of the very few that not only enticed us, he had the talents to back up his abilities.

He wrote music for himself and others. He used his star power to support and expose new female artists to a larger stage. He was a community man, always giving back.

So thank you for the memories, Prince.

I grew up with your music and I am grateful for it. You had a unique view of the world. Not many artists can paint the world purple, but you did.

Have a nice rest and I will see you, when I see you.

Glenn Frye

I was out ill when I heard the news of Glenn Frye's passing.

The one song I have always loved that Glenn Frye wrote and sang was Desperado. So here's to you:

I hope you and David Bowie are having one epic jam session.

OMG, The Sky is Falling... NOT!

Today was kind of sluggish. The blue sky turned lined and hazy thanks to the chemtrails. So sad. My city is maligned with poisons and no one does anything to stop it.

All the dew is gone from my grass and plants. That is how I know our atmosphere is being messed with, the natural order is out of order. I wish someone would halt this brainless activity.

When the lines of chemicals start penetrating the lower levels of the atmosphere, all of a sudden, I cannot breathe. So I end up inside watching a beautiful day turn into a planet dimming, engineered nightmare. Thanks, global-warming/climate change liars. You are ruining a perfectly good planet, and my days, over nothing. Idiots!

Before the day was lost, I did clean around the house. So at least I got something accomplished. My cracked and bleeding hands will attest that I did in fact clean.

Ray, my old white cat, was sleeping on the couch covering his nose like his face was cold. He ventured into bed with me. He must be cold. He is resting on my legs where he usually sleeps at the end of the bed on a pillow or cover.

Oh, Ray just left me. Obviously some pertinent kitty cat business especially since some of the kittens awoke when I placed my dinner dishes in the sink. Then curiosity was peaked and tails emerged from the darkness... the land sharks moved around the living room as if their prey was not alerted to their presence.

Sounds like a book in the making to me!

If only I would keep from falling asleep during prime time hours on the television. Granted most of my shows are on hiatus, but beginning next week, my shows are new again. I guess I should try nap time a few hours earlier so I can stay up to watch my shows.

Then I can start finding a few hours to start writing fiction again.

Well once my medical condition allows for better brain concentration. I still cannot write or think with music or television on, so I have to work in complete silence.  Now that's annoying as all get out.

So here's to rock'n'roll dreams and hazy nightmares.

Have a great and wonderful night!
