The Creative Mind in a World Gone Mad: How do We Take Back Our Imaginations?

Once I thought that the human imagination was boundless and beautiful overflowing with hope, in the years since, I have discovered that some of our mind's have ventured from the possible, probable, and poetic into a landscape of fear and dread.

The creative mind's "what if" moment of variability had been intersected. When an elite few realized that their dystopian future would shrink the quantum possibilities into one narrow passage, a new era of manipulation began. Humans don't have informed consent; we have manufactured consent.

The most steered aspects of our society have been the sciences and the arts. That cross-section of our culture has been handicapped, and our development stunted by this destructive agenda. Imagination? Creativity? ...where?

Anyone can observe the unimaginative movies, predetermined book publications, and repetitive musical interludes. As a child of the 1980's, I am bored with this curated selection of negative, trash-filled redundancy.

In the past decade, I have become concerned by the lack of original thought in our society. Instead, I perceive a propagandist's point of view influencing us. Yes, even in the arts and sciences is this negative agenda pushing forward. Should I name the offenses, or, can you decipher these issues for yourself?

As an artist, poet, and writer, what should I make of this forced slant stepping on our abilities, skills, and lifestyles? Why am I not allowed to embrace my creative side and ask the questions that beg: What if? The moment that my imagination takes flight into the uncharted territories of the cosmos, I must censor myself. I must refrain from my innate calling as a creative spirit.

Only when an agenda is corrupt and harmful must all other competition to it be silenced. No questions. No free-thought. No imagination.

Why? Why do a few believe that they outweigh the many? What happened to the imagination?

Here at Undawnted, imagination is fearless and will ask questions of the cultural captains: what happened that would allow you to believe you are more important in my creative life than I am? Why would you believe you are better than the rest of us? Why must we believe what you believe? Why must I attend, pray, and be a disciple at your church?

Are those not fair questions to ask? I feel that this elite mindset is of: do as you are told. Period. Another form of corporate toxicity demands more from me than it gives in return.

That leads into: why is there a conservatorship being placed on the creative world? When did I sign that legal contract? Is it in the vague Terms of Service of the services you don't provide anymore when you turned your back on freedom of speech? Because I certainly have not been evaluated in a court of law as incompetent to stand trial.

Why can I not tell people to research the findings of Dr. Naomi Wolf (Ph.D.), Dr. Robert Malone (M.D. and inventor of the MRNA technology), Dr. Peter McCullough (M.D.), VAERS reporting, or even Edward Dowd? Is the establishment afraid of real data?

When someone in a position of leadership be it government, corporate, education, or think tank does everything in his or her power to stifle creativity, shut down dissent, and make you censor yourself, then how can our culture have imagination?

One way. One mind... sounds more like the Borg to me, than a democracy.

When it comes down to it, we aren't being respected as adults. So if you are wondering why I speak out, this factor is high on the list. Are these governments, corporations, institutions, or think tanks respecting you if you have to censor yourself in order to appease their short-sided agenda?

What is the Agenda? The World Economic Forums' Great Reset that plunges the world into an economic depression? Do we really want that nonsense? I for one did not elect Klaus Schwab into office. Did you?

So, creative community of artists, writers, filmmakers, and musicians, do you need someone to make your decisions for you? Or, are you a capable, cogent adult that abides by the laws of the United States?

Because "creative" does not have the word: we, in it; but the letters do spell: I. As well, "imagination" does not have the word: we, in it; but the letters do spell: I. Those words embody the artful presence of individuality. The arts cannot and should not be dictated by a collective. That is why imagination is fearless because this journey is for the courageous individual.

Then why are we doing this? So, find your courage, individuate, and start asking questions.

Creative courage is contagious!

Have a great and insightful day.

March Madness Quarantine Special Continues with: Special Engagements: Lectures for Writer's Workshops, The Odyssey

Want to improve your knowledge base? Want to learn about mythology and other stories from our ancestral past?

Then participate in Undawnted's March Madness Special Engagements: Lectures for Writer's Workshops, The Odyssey.

"The follow up to the Iliad, Homer's Odyssey (Greek: Ὀδύσσεια, Odýsseia) is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer. It is, in part, a sequel to the Iliad, the other work ascribed to Homer.

The poem is fundamental to the modern Western canon, and is the second oldest extant work of Western literature, the Iliad being the oldest. It is believed to have been composed near the end of the 8th century BC, somewhere in Ionia, the Greek coastal region of Anatolia."

If you need to start with the Iliad, Undawnted has you covered, Lectures for Writer's Workshops: The Iliad.

The Art of Chapbook Publication

I am asked often how to make a chapbook.

Here are some simple steps to make a product with a good production value:
  • Use a word processing software program that is compatible with the creation of pdf's.
  • Structure your chapbook with front matter, content, and back matter.
    • Front Matter should have informative elements for your reader like:
      • Title page
      • Copyright/Publishing page
      • Table of Contents
    • Contents should be in logical/chronological order with numbering
    • Back Matter should have extras for your reader like:
      • Author biography
      • Thank you
      • Dedication (maybe Front Matter for Print books)
      • Publisher's mark
  • Book design cover art to visually explain your poetry with images instead of words with:
    • Title
    • Tag line, if applicable
    • Author's (pen) name
The time and dedication to put all these elements together is necessary to give your audience a complete sense of what message, feeling, or thought you wanted to convey to them.

Many publishers will charge around $1,000 for their time, original art work, and editing services.

So if you would like me to do a chapbook for you in pdf format with my original design cover art, editing, layout, and internal design services, please note that I charge a fee.

Anthologies I usually do for free or a reading fee of $1 per poem/microfiction prose piece. Then I will give the anthology out for free for one day and then begin to charge for my time per chapbook sold.

Considering many people do not buy anthologies, I am usually out my time.

Thems the breaks.

So if you would like to hire me to do your chapbook under 50 pages including original artwork, front/back matter and contents. Then set a goal of a $250 to $300 budget. That is with the originator handing in a typo free document.

Since my original cover art starts out at the $200 price point, poets and writer's are really getting a great deal. If you would like to hire me to accomplish a New Year's goal of a publication credit for 2020, then please go over to my Sonoran Dawn Studios social media page and write me a private message

I take Paypal.

Thank you!

*****
Please be advised that there is a $50 nonrefundable payment due before any work can begin as to safeguard my time creating a cover design mock up for you. Then you can decide after the mock up if you would like to continue, if you do, then $200 of the overall completed chapbook fee will also be nonrefundable.

It is unfortunate but I have ran into people who want to see the product before payment only to take the work for themselves and leave me without compensation. It does not happen often but now I put in barriers to those individuals who have dishonorable intentions.

Thank you for your understanding.

On Holiday Schedule for the Rest of the Year

It is time to kick back and relax!

Oh, who are we kidding? I am busy editing and writing Nocturnal Redemption for a winter release. As well as I have updated Sonoran Dawn Studios, Poetry, and Publishing sites. My personal site has also seen a good scrub.

With the temperatures decreasing, it is time to bundle up and write! Winter is always a fun time to sit and write. At night, when all the shows are repeats due to the holidays, I have dedicated nights to polish for next year's release.

2017 appears to be going to the fictional side of writing. 2016 was nonfiction essays and recipes for the most part. This new year should see two new chapbooks as well as one novel plus the second book to In the Name of Blood series.

By the end of December, I should have a great list of publications ready for their debut. Then Sonoran Dawn's Schedule page will be updated.

But for now, I will write and create and edit. So I will update the blogs in between this last push of the year. No more releases are expected until 2017.

As you can see my vacation has been all work and lots of play!

Have a great and wonderful day!

Finding the Right Fit

Everyone goes through it... this shirt is too big, my pants are too tight. These sneakers shrunk in the wash.

Out with the old and in with the new.

That is how I feel about my writing. What can I do better next time? What should I add? What should I delete?

The next step is always about bettering yourself at a given task.  So I have been thinking about what I should accomplish in 2017.  Should I do more or less of one type of writing? Fiction? Nonfiction? Poetry?

I am still deciding, but that is half the fun. I figured I would have my schedule out in December sometime.

Even I cannot wait to see what is in store for the New Year.

I sure do hope it fits!

Have a great and wonderful day.

The Mother of All Reinvention

In the last few years, Undawnted has grown and matured.

The website now focuses on poetry and writing while art, design, and publishing have been given their own homes online. That freedom has defined and extended my personal universe and Undawnted has reaped the benefits of that Big Bang.

Soon, the poetry and writing that graced this blog and writing portfolios will be published in their own collections. Poetry has already been published in third party anthologies and other websites. So publishing our own chapbooks and novels is a natural progression.

I hope you have enjoyed Undawnted's claim to fame. Stay tuned for more exciting developments. Here imagination is fearless.

Have a great and wonderful day!
