On My Poetry Forum for Review: Step on All of Us

Step on All of Us is a hybrid poem that blends the sixteen bars of a hip hop/rap and classical couplet poetry.

This poem is political in nature and the first of an upcoming chapbook called: United. This poem is being switched over to Undawnted's YouTube Channel. Subscribe and leave a comment.

No matter what your political leanings are, some truths cannot be argued. The media has destroyed our country with lies and manipulation. It is time to call this yellow journalism out. This poem is the first step in the creative writing community to do just that.

If you would like to read other poems by DL Mullan, be sure to search that forum for more of her selections under Undawnted.

Have a great and wonderful day.

To Believe or not to Believe, Can a Polarized Writer be Believed?

So what makes up a writer?

I have been asking myself this question for a long time. Is a writer a product of their environment? Or, is the environment a product of the activities of a writer?

It seems creative thinkers ebb and flow with the world around them but always just outside of the mainstream. Reporting, reacting, and responding to the political, social, and economic happenings for good or ill around him or her is the creator's way. Then infusing that vibration in the characters and story lines that are written.

I have come across creative thinkers over the years, and many in recent months, who have stopped being the outside observer and have become apart of the system.  I watch them. I watch how these artists and writers conduct themselves. Their behavior matches the extremes of current events and political talking points. I am aghast.

A creative being is ineffectual when absorbed by the prevailing energies of the time. Either writers have joined the far right camp or the far left. That leaves me smack dab in the middle.

With my formal education and my research activities, I have come to understand the many gears turning our world and how these mechanisms drive our world as a whole. To explain such machinations to the programmed mind is a perilous endeavor as I have discovered.

You cannot say that researched fact, you must believe! Belief is for people who have stopped searching and just want to exist in the vibration of life. That is not me.

I am in search of knowledge and wisdom. That imparts a duality of soul, inspiration of the heart. and path that cannot be walked in one lifetime, but on successive adventures in the energies of the universe. Who are we? Why are we here? Who sent us into this density? Dimension? To fulfill our individual destinies?

Energy is felt yet intangible. It shapes our universe and creates reality. How we use that energy is how we realize our world.

How does a wanderer bring the different aspects of reality together if everyone is so polarized that facts, figures, and sense don't exist as a common denominator?

I ask because reality is adrift. People choose belief over everything else. Religion of gods or emotion is destroying the fabric of the space-time continuum.

Can the imagination of one writer bring a cohesiveness to reality so people will stop tearing themselves and others apart?

I do not know the answer to that and many other questions. I do know that the path of a creator is not to be sucked into the propaganda, but to deflect it and shine a light on the manipulation.

If you are a writer, are you being the observer? Are you showing the hypocrisy of the right and the left?

Or, are you too busy trying to be right in your beliefs that you have forgotten why we are here?

I haven't forgotten my place as the observer. Belief has no sway here. Only knowledge and wisdom.

What do you believe that keeps you from becoming the writer you have always wanted to be?

Looking Ahead to 2019

There are still housekeeping items to get through before the new year.

Still 2019 looms. What should I focus on? Poetry? Recipes? Fiction? I am still debating.

This year was complicated by technical issues. I fixed the problems. The site is up and running again, but I feel out of my rhythm.  That doesn't help.

So I guess 2019 is when I get my groove back?

I am searching inside myself for that next character I will fall in love with and want to write about. Funny thing about love. She loves me; she loves me knot.

Maybe I it is not a character I need to fall in love with, perhaps it is taking the time to fall back in love with myself.

That is where all the creativity springs from and this year has been rougher than others in the recent past. Hope. Friendship. Fear. Betrayal. Loss. Wunderlust.

Life is stranger than fiction... mine seems to write itself.

What are your plans for 2019?

The Classics Never Get Old

As a disabled American, I cannot afford much on a fixed income. Internet is a medical necessity but overpriced as a luxury service. Not when I would pay sixty-five dollars in town for the same supplement bottle I buy online for under thirty. The internet ends up paying for itself.

A tight budget means no cable. I cannot watch any of my favorite shows. The current fodder plastered on the small screen is chalk full of psychological manipulations and political pageantry. None of it is very satisfying and definitely more psyop than entertainment. I turned my set off for the summer.

That was until Antenna TV began airing the Johnny Carson Show. First the network had the show on at 10:30pm. Great, I don't have to listen to the unfunny people of the other current late night talk shows. Then Johnny got switched to an hour later.

All the shows I did not get to see because I was too young to watch; I had school the next day are now available to me. Well, every day except Fridays when I would catch a view from time to time.

This old show from the sixties to the nineties was insightful, informative, and entertaining. The combination that is lacking in entertainment nowadays. From film to television, to reality shows, Hollywood is too geared toward teaching me how to sit and beg like a dog instead of having a real dog do the tricks.

I surf by show after show that has gays, lesbians, or interracial couples. That's fine to see a mixture of people. We are the United States. The line I see entertainment crossing is social engineering us to think or feel one way or another.

Everything is about balance and our entertainment should represent our cultural wealth, not just a few segments of society. I'm still trying to find that richness, which is not celebrated on the screen.

I am a crazy person. I believe people should marry out of love and not because a film or show made it cool. A couple will not last long if they don't have anything in common. Love sometimes is just not enough.

Even though in my stories, love is rewarded. I write in the Jane Austen school of thought where every woman should marry for love and always marry up. That is what makes a good story. Will s/he find their match in [insert character name here]?

We are innately attracted to the romantic archetype. We also have other structures we love to watch. Performers performing to make us laugh or cry. Sometimes performers perform for the sake of a smile on another person's face.

Vaudville antics with interviews and comedians is a wonderful combination. I wish I could find more of that type of goodwill today. I turn on the television and receive a guttural dose of social justice warriors gone wild.

And mad. These people seem very angry over every little damn thing. Everything is a personal mission. A boycott. A vendetta.

Bored now.

I like entertainment.

How can I order that to be played instead of all the divisiveness?

Love is in the Air

When I first began writing Nocturnal Redemption, I knew a love story was being built.

All the elements were there. Still, I wanted a story that was more than a romance novel. I wanted the story to be about something concrete.

So I added into the story a subplot about politics. It's interesting that I began writing this novel way before a woman had ever run for President of the United States.

Nocturnal Redemption will be out soon...  I hope you enjoy the first book of the series as much as I am enjoying writing the complexities of political life.

Manufactured Consent for Inauguration Week

Inauguration of a new President of the United States only happens every four years.

Good thing I wrote a research essay on the historical and political perspectives about elections and voting in Manufactured Consent.

"Voting has become a choice between the greater of two evils. Warring political parties vie for American voters, but is that perception false? Are voters caught in a cycle of picking the same agenda no matter if they go left or right?"

"Discover the history voters were not taught in school and how their rights to govern themselves has turn into the game of Manufactured Consent for those elites willing to do anything for power and greed."

Centrist : The Middle Child of Politics

Well, since I am writing historical and political research essays, I should probably explain my philosophy...

Centrist
The Middle Child of Politics

Before we get into the ins and out of history, politics, and society, we will take a look at the political views of the writer and lecturer.

What is a Centrist? What does that mean for people's rights?

What is your political leanings?

(This essay straddles two worlds; Hstorical Context and Social Constructs.)

War on Women is Now a Topic for Discussion

I have been at it again!

With current attitudes and recent commentary about women's rights, health, and safety, I am now working on a research essay called: War on Women. I take a look at the different arguments and angles about women's rights in our society.

The war on women has been a religious and societal attack for over 100 years. Probably closer to 4 to 5 thousand years have women had to submit to patriarchal misinformation and disinformation about what is and is not "feminine."

When feminism brought women's issues to the forefront of cultural discussion, politics hijacked the message. Wouldn't you like to get back to what being a woman is really about?

Manufactured Consent Now Available for Download

Another booklet has been released but on the subject of voting. Does your vote even count?

This time the research paper garnered its own ISBN! Manufactured Consent is a treatise expounding on politics, law, history, and what is means to be an American.

Our blurb: Voting has become a choice between the greater of two evils. Warring political parties vie for American voters, but is that perception false? Are voters caught in a cycle of picking the same agenda no matter if they go left or right? Death and Other Expectations

The last 24 hours have been rough.

A friend who battled against breast cancer passed away yesterday afternoon when her tumor ruptured. What a shock.  I knew her time was near but she was not letting on about it.

A year prior I helped translate her medical scan review. I knew what she was up against. I knew.

We had also discussed a DNR, do not resuscitate.

On the way to the hospital her heart stopped in the ambulance and she closed her eyes in peace. She had lost too much blood, probably from internal bleeding. She was not resuscitated.

Even though I have environmental illness, heavy metal poisoning and black mold infection, which the latter is akin to cancer, I can relate to the shock of an ill person's death. The hours wind down. You can see the failings, the set backs. You see them, but can say nothing.

Then their impending death becomes a natural part of your landscape. Almost how yours has faded into the back of your friend's minds as well. Death will come. Death becomes an unexpected expectation.

For some, death comes earlier than others.

So thank you for being my friend. I will always cherish our time together arguing over politics. Who will I argue with now?

And, I will see you, when I see you.

I added a link to the site: Convergence

This blog is my hub of all my other blogs! I needed to get them all in order so I would stop forgetting to update certain ones. I am forgetful.

So have fun seeing my posts of politics, art, science, medicine, and mysticism.

Good thing I have that all straight now.

Have a great and wonderful day!

Just Laughing at Myself

It could be worse, I tell myself.

Then I look at the world around me and think: nah, this situation is totally out of control.

It's difficult to sit back and do nothing. Since I have a disability that precludes me in participating in life in general, I have to discover how to change the world but still keep my sense of humor.

It's difficult.

I'm glad I have my other blogs. One I get to be the objective observer. The other I get to be as humorous, sarcastic, and brash as I want to be. I come back here to see the world through the glasses of a temperate personality.

All are aspects of myself. Although, I do love to be humorous, it's my style. I enjoy making people laugh as well as see a different perspective.

Today, I want everyone to find humor in serious situations they find themselves in. if you can lift your spirits and the energy around you, then you can begin to make the changes in your life that you want to see.

Higher vibrations lead us out of our problems.

So have a great and humorous day. I think I'm going to put on my Lewis Black and Jeff Dunham DVDs so I too can see the forest through the trees.

A Voice for Your Generation

I've been writing for my local newspaper and my own blog for a little while now.

I have learned to balance the needs of the community with my own. What I cannot cover, I make sure to link to independent news episodes in order to keep everyone current. Or, if I need some time off because my brain is fried or I am: a video it is!

On a personal blog, it's not that easy. I have to write something, right? Something!

I got to thinking: where are the voices of my generation? Where the hell are all the Gen Xers anyway? Did they all succumb to corporate and family life? What happened to our rebellious spirit?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one out here. That thought led me to the epiphany: I have become the voice I've been searching for. An odd statement for sure, but a true one.

It's not an ego statement. I am doing that job here and with the Gazette. I finally found my voice.

It shouldn't be a voice for a generation; it should be voices. Where is your voice on the current state of affairs in politics, government, medicine, health, food/water/air safety? Where are you?

You don't have to be Generation X to get a blog, website, youtube channel or the like.

Just start saying something. Anything. Be the voice you have been waiting for. It feels good to make a difference in the world.

So what topic makes you verbal? Speak out. Live out loud. It's not too late to become that person your teenage self always wanted you to be. An idealist. A commentator. A rebel.

A role model.

Be the change you want to see in the world and the world will change to meet you. I've had it happen to me. Stories gravitate to me. When you are on your right path, everything falls into place.

Now to finish my fiction and nonfiction books... then we'll be getting somewhere there too!

Sick, well, or in between, you can make this world a better place. Trust me. The universe is on your side when your heart is pure and you love what you're doing.

So go out and be: A Voice for Your Generation.

Have a great and wonderful weekend!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

I spend a fair amount of my time reading, listening to internet radio, and thinking. I think about the future and what it means to me. What can the future hold for a cripple unable to tolerate the outside world?

Then again, who would want to?

Humans have allowed corporations, banks, and government to steal the wealth, prosperity, and health of our race and planet.

Maybe it's a good thing I am stuck at home or I would be protesting everyday the stupidity of the human condition that has created such corruption.

It's all humanity's fault too.

Socioeconomic despair and terrorism has been done on purpose. The poison in the air, water, food, and everything else is also on purpose. Where have we been while this idiocy has transpired? While our children have been uneducated about freedom and their bodies fed toxins?

I wander.

I wander around the internet. I read what is going on in the world. I wonder why 6 billion people are aimless with all the connections being thrown at us on a daily basis.

Are sports and television shows really more important than fixing the broken mechanism of politics in this country?

I wonder.

I wonder what it is going to take for those who are lost to finally ponder the future and how they can change it for the better?

Not all who wander are lost...

But it seems all that is lost is because no one bothered to wander out of the fixed opinions, not facts, they are spoonfed on the television by talking heads. People actually believe what they are told from the alphabet news stations is real. The idiotic box repeats only what idiots know. It's a box of deception, for entertainment purposes only... Humanity has forgotten this golden rule.

When are you going to decide to wander outside the box?

The rest of us are waiting for you.
