Love is in the Air

When I first began writing Nocturnal Redemption, I knew a love story was being built.

All the elements were there. Still, I wanted a story that was more than a romance novel. I wanted the story to be about something concrete.

So I added into the story a subplot about politics. It's interesting that I began writing this novel way before a woman had ever run for President of the United States.

Nocturnal Redemption will be out soon...  I hope you enjoy the first book of the series as much as I am enjoying writing the complexities of political life.

Quick Write Competition Submission

I am excited about this 1000 word or less story. What can you write that is clean in less than that word count? So I decided on a children's slant. I am surrounded by my fur friends so I wrote about my black and white cat: Jack.

The story is cute full of mystery and suspense. A wizard appears to a little kitty who is trapped in an attic. A good wizard who grants Jack a wish.

I  am very pleased with how the write turned out. If I win or no, I believe I will create a book for Magic in the Night.

What are you writing this winter recess?

Have a great and wonderful day!

All Beginnings Begin with Another Chapter's End

Autumn is right around the corner but summer still lingers on.

The cooler mornings have arrived. The gentle breezes summon the desert's occupants to awaken from their heat comas and rise to meet the world. The desert is alive once more at the stroke of midnight.

Summer cannot hold out much longer. Mother Nature will have her way. Autumn is coming...

Less than three weeks away from the autumnal solstice and Halloween already calls. What spooky nights lie ahead is anyone's guess. The night is ready for her close-up.

How about you? Are you ready to end the summer and begin the third chapter of a four season year?

Have a great and wonderful day!

Hot in the City Tonight

The last Friday in July is a cooker.

Pressure cooker? The heat feels like it. In the pull of Mother Nature to bring in the Monsoon to the Sonoran Desert, she has been really cooking our biscuits. Fry me, isle five.

I mean, I am a desert rat, but from mid-June on the heat has been ridiculous. Then add the geoengineering on top of our already drought ridden region and bam! instant wildfire season. Just insane.

So I am inside during the day and star gazing in the middle of the night.

It's hot in the city on a Friday night. Nothing to watch on the television so I will again be without entertainment for the entire weekend. I will have to entertain myself.

That means: more poetry and fiction novels on the way! First I will be sure to write up some nonfiction booklets and research essays. Got to keep the variety up.

If I get bored, then I know my audience is too. We cannot have that! So I am dialing up the fearless imagination to the next level.

Then I am going to take a nap... speaking of which. Off I go until this evening!

Have a great and wonderful day!

Phantom Rain

Rain was on the radar but none fell on my property.

Rain will begin in 14 minutes to a break in the rain will happen in 44 minutes. I look outside: nothing. I hear the monsoon storm's wind and thunder. I look again... Well, I guess there is no rain for my poor landscaping yet another day.

Where is my rain? My plants cry for moisture.

Do I keep on waiting on this phantom rain?

Have a great and wonderful day.

Comet Watchers, Lovejoy is Making an Appearance This Week

I was out last night for a moment.

The night was cold in the desert but the sky was brilliant. The stars were shining above me. Orion glided onto the scene taking up most of the arena. Off to the north and west was Jupiter following the gallant hunter.

Tonight when I get my optical fix, I will be taking my binoculars with me. Comet Lovejoy should be passing near Orion's belt.

Here is the article with the information link: Comet Lovejoy Closest This Week.

I hope everyone enjoys finding this tailless comet as much as I will.

Have a great and wonderful evening!
