After a relationship breakup, Eavanlee Zilpha Lewis finds herself wandering in the Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans. In the evening, she makes a wish on Marie Laveau's tomb. Will she, will she not... find love?
Little did Eavanlee (ˈē-vən-lē) know that her answer lies in the adventure of the heart and soul. A dark, mysterious stranger leads her on a journey past her preconceived notions and straight into the heart of the matter.
Eavanlee did not need the help of spirits, she was born a Saint.
What happens when you discover the only person who can save you is you?
Is this stupid or what? Creators of art, poetry, and prose are censored without a jury trial of our peers.
As I was making a list of poems that I wanted to create videos for, I had to strike out a few. One is Imaginary Suicide. Because we have not raised adults in this country and around the world, words are banned.
People are terrified of words.
I'm sorry: what?
Because adults are scared of the alphabet and dictionary, corporations are telling me what my rights are? Perhaps, it is time that we have the return of actual education, and in the process, "unalive" corporations. In legal terms, a corporation has personhood. Yet, I have never seen a corporation go to prison. Have you? So the definition of corporation needs to change, as well as to underline that to do business in our country (the United States) said entities (education and corporations) need to be neutral in all political and social matters.
I am tired of elites using their corporate power, wealth, and extreme belief systems to skew the electorate with disinformation and misinformation, on the right and the left. The first step is to disallow corporations from participating in our elections and culture. These entities are to sell goods and services, not tell me how to run my life. Under the Constitution, that is my right.
Until voters understand how their rights are being stripped by foreign individuals, and the intelligence apparatus, through the flexing of corporate power, then the banning, shadow-banning, and censorship will continue.
"Beautifully expressed. It comes as no surprise that in a world structure
as this one finds oneself in a complex emotional equation as this,
until it runs its course and takes a turn at some point."
"So real to me, which is a sad reflection though true. I agree...you nailed this!"
"Very imaginative. This is innovative, an interesting perspective and
packed with emotion. Your use of language and word choices give this
impact."
"Imaginary suicide, what a subject matter for a great creative write, its full with real emotions as are great creative writes
Well done and well wrote."
Shouldn't we be demanding the end of censorship?
Have an imaginative day.

Remember Jonah from the Bible? Jonah in the New Testament was sent on a mission by his god, but he is hesitant. As a result, Jonah was swallowed by a large whale (sea creature), but then spat out. After his journey into the belly of the beast (Hero's Journey), he returned to his original calling, to deliver god's judgement to an ancient city.
This narrative correlates to the Hero's Journey. When the hero entered the unknown world, he was undergoing a transformation from who he was to who he will be. He is tested. Once he was victorious over his foe, or circumstances, the hero could bring the life-saving elixir to the world.
Over time, the symbol of Jonah morphed into meaning the weakest link and bad luck to a sailing crew. This switch to a dark definition of Jonah was emphasized on the paranormal show, The Holzer Files: Phantom Crew of Season 1, Episode 5.
The team investigates the ghost ship USS Constellation and tries to find the source of its endless spirit sightings over the centuries. They may have gotten more than they bargained for when one investigator realises he's been bitten out of nowhere.
Here's a snippet of that case:
The paranormal team soon learned that the entire non-living crew targets a living person as a weak person to be labeled their Jonah. That gave the ghosts the right to push anyone off the USS Constellation as they so choose.
The Jonah Collector is much more than literary, lyrical prose, but a chance to see the real life drama of sailors in an easily digestible form. Instead of using an evil captain and crew, this paranormal-nautical story surrounds a dark mermaid, who collects the souls of sailors, namely Jonahs. The rhyme scheme of the prose pieces adds intensity to the drama.
In this epic tale, we discover that in his youth, Captain Christopher Houston was once a Jonah. The weakest link on a ship endangers the entire crew. As such, he was tossed into the Locker, then saved by a mermaid. She wants revenge on him for annulling the contract. She went after his son. Now, Houston has a choice: save his son or himself. Will he be the next victim of The Jonah Collector?
Australians will tell anyone that shrimp in Australia are
called prawns and barbie is slang for barbecue. So, for American audiences, the
title of the film became “The Shrimp on the Barbie.” Except in Europe, where
the title was changed, since Mattel owns the brand: Barbie. If you want to
sound cosmopolitan, be sure to say when visiting Australia to "throw another prawn on the barbie."
In this movie, the shrimp, or prawn, on the barbie is
Carlos, an American transplant in Australia, who jumps from one fire to another in this romantic comedy.

The Shrimp on the Barbie
Down on his luck and working in a Mexican restaurant in
Australia, an American tourist is hired by an icy heiress to pose as an
obnoxious new boyfriend in an attempt to make her father accept her current
boyfriend.
Poor Carlos (played by Cheech Marin), he moves from America to Australia to hit it big: financially. His girlfriend stayed behind as he chased his dreams to become stable and secure, in order to marry her. After he flies Downunder, he discovers that his prospects go from bad to worse. Not only is the mansion that was supposed to be awaiting him a bust, but so is the Mexican restaurant he is employed at as a waiter. Soon, he receives a Dear John letter from his girlfriend, who is set to marry his best friend. To top it all off, he screws up a high-profile birthday at the restaurant.
Depressed, Carlos is desperate to help his boss save the restaurant from foreclosure, he ends up taking a deal from Alexandra Hobart (played by Emma Samms), a rich, entitled woman whose only goal is to marry Bruce. Her father sees that her taste in men has declined, but drives a hard bargain with Alexandra: give up Bruce and the next boyfriend, no matter how terrible, he will approve. This sets into motion Alexandra recruiting the bad waiter, Carlos, from her father’s birthday party for assistance for the sum of five thousand dollars.
Carlos sees a way to save the restaurant. Alexandra sees a way to beat her father at his own game. On the periphery, her father (played by Terrence Cooper) overhears a conversation between Carlos and Alexandra about their deal, and sets them up as well as Bruce.
In the end, Alexandra realizes that the sensitive Carlos has more redeeming qualities as a man than the exuberant and crude Bruce. With her new perspective, she admits to her father what she had done. He in turn hands her the photographs that show the real Bruce in action: sleeping with her best friend and beating up Carlos.
After showing their mutual friends the photos at Bruce’s birthday party, Alexandra rushed to the Mexican restaurant to apologize to Carlos. Unfortunately, Carlos packed his things and bought a return ticket to American. Alexandra rushes to the airport, but the plane has already taxied out. Her father calls the president of the company and has Carlos escorted to the terminal.
The pair is reunited. With the help of her father’s investment in the Mexican restaurant, it is saved. Carlos sees his dreams of helping his friend, gaining financial improvement, and finding love come true.

The Review
Carlos: Who died and made you Darth Vader, huh?
The Shrimp on the Barbie is an underrated
and understated film. It will never win an Academy Award, but this 90s film has
its merits. The characters grow and change into better people, except for the
two antagonists, of course.
The protagonists come to some
personal revelations. Carlos learns that with perseverance he can achieve his
goals. Alexandra learns that not everything that glitters is gold. Diamonds in the
rough can be more precious. Her father learns that his daughter is a grown
woman who may need guidance, but not his manipulation, and refried beans are
good!
And, watch out for Joeys! They pack
a mean punch.
Purchased from Prime Video.
Note: This film was
released at 86 minutes with a PG-13 rating. The video version features a minute of
additional footage (including nudity) and is rated R.

The Tally
My review will be posted on Prime as well as IMDB.

Literary, lyrical prose in the form of nautical narrative is: The Jonah Collector.
Inspired by the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Jonah Collector offers something new to the seafaring, mermaid, and pirate genres. The tale is about a sea captain whose days are bogged down by regret, stress, and homesickness.
Captain Christopher Houston is a
seafaring man. He lives on the sea. He is the best ship captain in the
world. He is also deceased.
In
this epic tale, we discover that in his youth, Captain Houston
committed a heinous crime. He lied about his age to get onboard a ship
because his father had died. The young man wanted to support his mother
by earning a wage. Unfortunately, he was too inexperienced. He found
himself labeled a Jonah, the weakest link, and forced to walk the
plank.
As his ship sailed away, the
ocean took him down to the Locker. In the Depths, a beautiful mermaid
made him a deal. Captain Houston did not understand the contract that
saved his life, and was later able to nullify the mermaid's evil intent
because he was not of age to consent to such an agreement.
Years
had passed since his encounter. Something inside of him stirred. He
knew that his youthful mistake was about to catch up with his present.
Unbeknownst to him, the
mermaid, Aetheshella, devised a scheme to lure Christopher back to her
through fate. She went after his son. Now, Captain Houston has a choice:
save his son or himself.
Will he be the next victim of The Jonah Collector?

_____
Interview
Undawnted's DL Mullan sat down and interviewed fellow poet, Kaye Lynne Booth about her poetry collection, Small Wonders.
What made you decide to write a poetry book?
Small Wonders is an accumulation of a lifetime of
poetry. I have written poetry since I was a young girl, and here and there,
I’ve had a few published over the years. But, poetry is a form of writing which
I indulge in because it is fun, and although I enjoy sharing my poems, I never
really looked at it like it was something to make money off of. But when I saw
the enthusiasm rise for the Poetry Treasures books, which WordCrafter Press published
each year, I decided that I had enough poems that were sitting around gathering
virtual dust to publish a collection and share them with the world, for better
or worse.
Why the theme "Small Wonders"?
What was the inspiration?
Poems are the “small wonders” of the
literary world. They help people see things in new and different ways. They
allow the poet to pour out his or her heart in a way that expresses exactly how
they feel in such a way as to create an image that others can relate to and
understand.
Is writing poetry an innate skill, or did you
have to develop it? Doyou have your own
style? Or, do you like writing poetry in the variousstandard forms (haiku, sonnet, etc.)?
As I said, I like to write poetry because it
is fun. I like to play with words, and so, I have fun experimenting with
different forms of poetry. I enjoy writing syllabic poetry to see if I can say
what I wish to say in the correct amount of syllables, and I also enjoy playing
with visual poetry, such as shape poems. In the collection, I’ve included an
entire section of poems I just had fun with.
Do you have a favorite poet? If so, why? How
did this poet inspire you?
A. I am partial to Emily Dickinson, Sidney
Sheldon and Dr. Suess. I believe that much of my poetry carries the sing-song,
rhyming qualities of the two latter. Dickinson, I relate to on a different
level, as she is more somber in her poetry, in both subject and content, and I
think some of my more serious, emotional poems carry that somber quality.
Have you written an epic poetry (Homer)?
Actually, I have written a couple of epic,
or at least semi-epic poems regarding the life and death of my son, but those
are for a very different book. There are a few poems in Small Wonders
which are quite long, but I don’t know that one would call them epic.
