Rain Showers and October Flowers

A scary, electric thunderstorm rolled through my neighborhood this evening.

The storm appeared to build on top of our area as an orange sun set in the distance. The cloud to cloud lightning illuminated the sky in muted tones of blue and white. The trees and bushes swayed under the wind bursts and blows. The rain splattered and spit until the gush of a downpour soaked everything in its path.

The last surge of the monsoon was the best one of the season. Finally the parched earth saw some measure of moist relief. The dirty air from previous dust storms was cleaned as the smell of humidity doused the otherwise hot and dry molecules. A faint odor of ozone hung between the hydrogen and oxygen covalent bonds. The air was indeed electric to the smell as well as touch.

Now the season is over.

Will this rainy evening bring with it flowers in October? Or just the memory of the last vestiges of summer spilling over into an autumn night? Sunflowers have hidden away to sleep until the sun rises in half a day's hours.

The night is calm once again. The stars beam their lights. The nestled birds are quiet upon the wind.

Have a great and wonderful day.

Up 'n at 'em

This morning was really pretty in the Sonoran Desert.

In the summer after staying up all night to avoid the extreme heat, I welcome the sun and all her glory. A few years back Venus and Jupiter were high in the eastern sky from 3am until the sun rose. My traveling companions.

Now the rotations have shifted. Venus comes up later about 5am in the east. Don't fret. Jupiter and Mars are not far behind and when cool October mornings come around, all three will be very, very close together in our sky. I cannot wait!

I have been updating my blogs, publishing some poems. I have been doing the bored to death thing. I get like this during summers. Summer is just not that exciting to me. I know we have the monsoon storms, but those only happen when the geoengineers are being stupid or generous. I cannot figure out which. ;)

I really do hate the toxic chemical laden, ecoterrorism being played out in our skies and no one seems to notice. I notice. I was raised with blue skies. I do not know what those lines are doing up there but to damage our ice caps and ozone lawyer. Yeah, and they say it is us. Nope! It is "them."

So if you can wake up extra early, especially at the end of October, the alignment of those three planets should be spectacular.

I for one cannot wait to fill up my camera's memory with the memory of a life lived.

Have a great and wonderful day!

Tomorrow will be 1m29s shorter

Autumn cometh!

October is my favorite time of year, so I will post how the days get shorter in anticipation of fall.

What is disturbing is that stores are already placing their Halloween items out. I do not believe autumn should start at the end of July. I don't believe Xmas shopping should happen until the Monday after Thanksgiving.

It feels that Americans have gotten away from the joy of the holidays. Halloween is to dress up and spend time with your friends. Children should believe October 31st is a magical night that will give them memories for a lifetime.

Thanksgiving should be a time of celebration and giving thanks. Gratitude for all the sacrifices people have made to make America great, while not forgetting the terrible things that befell the First Nations who are now on reservations.

Christmas and other end of year holidays should not come at the expense of other holidays or traditions. I mean, really, do we need Black Friday?

No, course we do not.

What we need are a nation of people who care and have moral/ethical behavior. A 99c flat screen tv is not worth the time a father or mother has to be at work to serve you and be away from their kids during the Thanksgiving holiday.

We should be paying a fair wage so no one has to work on the holidays. Or, receive food stamps. Or, live out of their vehicle.,

While I love October, Halloween, the holidays make me think about how I conduct myself around the holiday season.

What will you do to make the season brighter for someone else?

Migraines, the Gift that Keeps on Giving

It is nice to see some things never change.

Another day, another migraine. This one took me out for several days. Since I suffer from Environmental Illness, I do not get the luxury of pain relief. No medications for me, I am on my own.

It is great when you add in the skull splitting pain.

So how was your weekend? My cats were so worried that a shrine of toys was left at my bedside. I get up to get a drink of water and there are cat toys lining the floor.

At least my kitties are considerate. I am officially apart of their cat colony and when I go down, they take notice.

Awww, kitty love.

I hope your day is full of love from your fur friends too.

Have a scary, fright filled day!

My Favorite Time of the Year

It is October.

I must confess: I never imagined that I would live this long. Not more than four years ago, I was bedridden on oxygen and unable to care for myself.

Instead of proper medical care, my former family and friends sought to abuse me in a manner that is criminal. Now I am having to deal with their immature and criminal acts once again. The stress takes its toll.

Well, you have seen from my non-posts. Sorry about that. I am still dealing with the situation, but I am hoping the family works out the details and no longer is apt to dragging me into the situation.

As for writing, well, none of that has happened. Sorry again.

I hate being of delicate in nature and I hope my constitution bounces back one of these years, for I would love to finish all of my books in a timely manner as well as meet any of my readership in actual person.

I have lofty goals, I know, but there is not one goal I have set that I have not attained in one manner or another.

Which brings us to Halloween! October is my favorite month. I would like to return to giving out candy, dressing up, and decorating the yard, but alas that will not be this year. I did it once two years or so ago, and I did not fair well.

I shall return to my former activities, slow and slow, but I shall.

Right now, I must get back to writing for myself, the Gazette, and my readership because nothing says entertainment like a chick with brain inflammation, knowledge, internet access, and an axe to grind.

And, this is the time of year for axes.

Have a scary and unpredictable day!

Bad Moon Rising

The total lunar eclipse was a blast!

I could only see up until totality but I am proud I made it that far. My energy has been drained and I am a couch potato today. No surprise.

Even though I took some pictures, I wish I could have gotten images for after totality.

There are four of these total lunar eclipses in a row. Next stop, October 2014. Maybe I'll get my pictures then. 2015 will have another set of these eclipses. This foursome won't happen again until 2032... so make a date skywatchers!

As for my pictures, I posted them here: Lunar Shadow Dancing: April's Total Eclipse Highlights.

I hope everyone else had fun at their star parties. My party was for one, yet it was a great time. I hope to do it again soon.

Have a great and wonderful night!
