Off to the Races: December 21 through 25, 2021 for Family and Friends Time

The Undawnted team is going on a Staycation.

It's not like we can afford a real vacation. We will be around. We have a lot of housekeeping to do to get our events and programs ready for 2022.

So if you have a question, use our Contact form, and we will respond as usual.

Otherwise, we will be updating and polishing the site, ourselves, and off some eggnog!

What do you have planned for the holidays?

Have a great and fireplace smoking week!

*****

Movie Night with the Novelist is still on for this coming Saturday and Sunday, so don't fret! These movies are the last ones for 2022.

On My Poetry Forum for Review: Eggnog Dreams

Eggnog Dreams is a holiday classic in the making.

This poem is in the creative comedic vane as Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Dr. Demento. Eggnog Dreams will be a part of the chapbook called: Oracle. This spirited holiday poem will be located on Undawnted's YouTube Channel. Read it for yourself and leave a comment.

If you like strange humor and morality plays, then you will love this fable-inspired poem, especially the ending!

Have a great and wonderful day.

Happy Bday to Undawnted

Happy Birthday to the author of Undawnted, DL Mullan!

Controversial but always entertaining, DL Mullan has built Undawnted from the dream of becoming an author. She has published fiction, nonfiction, and poetry in a few short years. Many of her selections are free including home and food recipes.

Her community service does not stop there. Through her publishing house: Sonoran Dawn Studios, DL Mullan has created book and cd cover art for free. She hosts online book events and holiday parties. She lives her ideals.

Now she needs your help.

Disabled on a fixed income, DL Mullan could sure use donations to cover some unexpected bills that have happened. If she get enough, she may be able to repair her needed washer and dryer as well.

Donate to her Paypal account: dlmullan@yahoo.com. All proceeds go to bills, food, and supplements (her medicine). None of your generosity is ever wasted on anything less.

So THANK YOU in advance.

DL Mullan truly appreciates the assistance this holiday season. Her goal is a thousand dollars. Let's see who can put her over the top!

So far DL Mullan has raised: $0.00.

Won't you help keep the dream alive?

On behalf of our friend, DL Mullan, Thank you so very much!

Celtic Heritage Month

March is the month of St. Patrick's Day, so Undawnted has created her own heritage month for those with a Celtic lineage.

It seems like the calendar is replete with holidays for everything and everyone... except for the betterment of the Celtic people. St. Patrick's story is a fable made up by the Holy Roman Empire to convert pagans. Today this holiday is for drink and merriment.

Not really the positive vibe the Celtic people could use.

March on Undawnted will highlight this heritage with plenty of merriment minus the drink.

So get out your Irish and Scottish wears and accents.

Celtic Heritage Month is now here.

Received Pudding, but Got No Milk

Spit in one hand and wish in the other was a common phrase when I was growing up.

We did not have money growing on trees. I lived on the clearance side of life and still am. Money was to be budgeted and savored, if you wanted something special. KMart layaway during the holidays was a ritual event.

Those memories were brought to the forefront when I realized that I finally had my pudding mix, but I had no milk in the refrigerator with which to make it into pudding!

That is okay. Thanksgiving isn't for another week. I think I can manage getting some organic whole milk between now and then.

It's just comical how life hands you pudding mix and forgets the main ingredient!

Writing a story is much the same thing. You think you have it all figured out and then your character says to you: hey, what about this? Shit! You drop your pencil and walk away.

You have to devise plan B. Or, C... maybe even G.

Isn't writing like life?

Have a great and wonderful day!

Tomorrow will be 1m29s shorter

Autumn cometh!

October is my favorite time of year, so I will post how the days get shorter in anticipation of fall.

What is disturbing is that stores are already placing their Halloween items out. I do not believe autumn should start at the end of July. I don't believe Xmas shopping should happen until the Monday after Thanksgiving.

It feels that Americans have gotten away from the joy of the holidays. Halloween is to dress up and spend time with your friends. Children should believe October 31st is a magical night that will give them memories for a lifetime.

Thanksgiving should be a time of celebration and giving thanks. Gratitude for all the sacrifices people have made to make America great, while not forgetting the terrible things that befell the First Nations who are now on reservations.

Christmas and other end of year holidays should not come at the expense of other holidays or traditions. I mean, really, do we need Black Friday?

No, course we do not.

What we need are a nation of people who care and have moral/ethical behavior. A 99c flat screen tv is not worth the time a father or mother has to be at work to serve you and be away from their kids during the Thanksgiving holiday.

We should be paying a fair wage so no one has to work on the holidays. Or, receive food stamps. Or, live out of their vehicle.,

While I love October, Halloween, the holidays make me think about how I conduct myself around the holiday season.

What will you do to make the season brighter for someone else?

Hello Cold Front, Good-bye Autumn

Wow.

Phoenix is blustery today. It was kind of warm, anything below 90 is not warm to a desert rat like myself, for a few days and then here is the cold blast.

Dear Polar Vortex, you can keep it.

That's right, folks, the Arctic can remain in the Arctic. Phoenix is a desert. It is not Detroit 2.0.

Wind, cold.... then rain on the way. El Nino must be really upset this year. Although I will not argue rain, we always need rain to clean out the dirty atmosphere.

Last night the AirNow people measured 179 in unhealthy air particulates because people in Phoenix, at 50 degrees, needed to run their fireplaces instead of the ones on Youtube. We live between mountains. There is a cold inversion layer that traps the smog in the general breathable air column. There was no wind. So let's all give smoke inhalation to everyone in the metro area.

The gift that keeps on giving to respiratory illness patients who now are at the ER or sucking on their nebulizers. Yeah, thanks bunches. Now we all have lung gunk to deal with.

Awesome!

Do not even get me started on the gun shots and perhaps fireworks. Phoenix has become the Third World. Sane people hide in their houses until day break, if you can breathe that is. It is quite upsetting to see such a great place to live become a holiday war zone.

Bright side, I heard no helicopters last night. Shocker. Usually someone is giving the police a chase through our golf course area. Maybe all the rift raft were too busy impressing others by lighting matches or using firearms.

Nah, they were stealing people's Christmas lights and scenes. It is really shameful to steal people's decorations. Even for a prank. It is the holidays, not grab bags are us.

That was cathartic. I got my disappoint right out and in record time. At least me and the kitties are safe and sound. We have pizza and each other. We have more than most.

We are blessed.

For the rest of the year, I am working on art for the Abstracts link.

Have a Happy and Wonderful Holiday Season.

Physics, Comparative Mythology... A Perfect Combination

Today, I was kind of spunky. I organized my hobby tools, caught up on laundry, and am really trying to get the house looking like the cats have not taken over. hehehe!

Then I wanted to listen to something while I worked. I ended up on youtube listening to David Talbott: Seeking the Third Story | EU2012

Very interesting intersection about physics, plasma, and ancient mythology. I love comparative mythology. I have read Joseph Campbell's A Hero with a Thousand Faces as well as many other books on the subject.

I am always fascinated by the connections we can make to the ordinary and the extraordinary.

You will find out that I like opening my mind to different knowledge, information, and perspectives. Ever since I began my meditative work, my brain has been eager and hungry for all sorts of knowledge. It seems I cannot get enough learning done.

And, you wonder why I am so tired all the time! My brain is exhausted! hahaha!!! I am hoping this influx of new ideas will make me a better writer and lecturer in the future.

I enjoy watching intellectual discourses especially when they are free online. I cannot afford cable because I spend my money on life saving supplements. So free is awesome!

That was my Xmas day.

I hope yours went as well and that Santa was very good to you!

Have a great and wonderful Holiday!!!
