Summer, Interrupted

This summer appears to be the nonstop roller coaster ride type.

All I want to do is get in some writing time! It appears that my focus is on too many pans in the fire. Ugh! The sad thing is: those aren't my pans.

Yet here I am cooking meals I have no idea what I am doing for each one. So I stopped myself and figured out a game plan. I will fry up that order at this time. The next order will come after, and so on. Then I can free up my evenings to do some writing.

Much better.

I have a few projects I would like to get off the ground this autumn. So it's back to the keyboard for me!

How has your summer been?

Have a great and wonderful day.

Memory Lane

I have been updating my credentials on Sonoran Dawn Studios.

The books, courses, lectures, and other learning mechanisms I employed over the years were a lot lengthier than I had given myself credit for.

In a word: wow!

I am glad I availed myself to not only study but to travel. I have been to numerous historical locations, locations in general, as well as touched history.

Different points of view is an important skill to have as a creator. I wish I could have done more before I became disabled but while I was healthy, at least I did not hide in my house. I lived. Moments of time, I experienced eras and cultures. I felt time.

So memory lane has really bolstered my passion for knowledge and experience. I hope that one day I can return to what I enjoyed: living out loud.

For now, I will live to express.

What have you done today to break out of your comfort zone?

Have a great and wonderful day!

Photo Album

I see the days pass by me
as a group of still photos
being flipped through the air

one image leads into another
and another and another
until there are no more images
to be seen in the passage of time

that would be the difference
between now and then

with all the photos strewn
about the floor in no particular order
i wonder what day it is, was

was it a Tuesday? Friday?
does it matter at all?

time can capture our fondest memories
and our darkest moments untli we reach
a time where there are no more memories
that can be held in the palm of our hands

except for another's hand who has been there
taking the photos that chronicled our lives.

Immersion Reading is Good for the Soul

Have you ever loved what book you were reading that could not put it down? You did not hear the phone? Or could not finish your book until you spent 24 hours reading it all the way through the first time?

In the article: Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer, Time Magazine explains that ""Deep reading" is vigorous exercise from the brain and increases our real-life capacity for empathy."
“Deep reading” — as opposed to the often superficial reading we do on the Web — is an endangered practice, one we ought to take steps to preserve as we would a historic building or a significant work of art. Its disappearance would imperil the intellectual and emotional development of generations growing up online, as well as the perpetuation of a critical part of our culture: the novels, poems and other kinds of literature that can be appreciated only by readers whose brains, quite literally, have been trained to apprehend them.
So go ahead, enjoy your book binges!

It just means you have a better understanding of the world around you.

Have a great and wonderful day.

Chateau Du Medan

Paul Cezzane painted the Chateau Du Medan as seen here below.

Chateau Du Medan

Let's stand on the shore
and reminisce about the past
near the shores of the Chateau Du Medan.

A nice warm day rises
with clouds streaming away,
sunbathing as we all wish to do.

The sun rides the ripples
in the river below
to tell us to dance the day away.

What a wonderful time
of green meadows, white clouds,
blue skies, and yellow sun.

I too remember in my dreams
the Chateau Du Medan
as the respite for my waking soul.

What If...

What if...

you woke up one morning and the geoengineering trails in the sky were gone?
you found out the world is rich beyond any debt incurred?
you heard we could heal the Earth without killing off 80% of the population?
you saw we could cure and heal all the sick?
you could feed all the hungry?

What if...

it were coming true?
