Press Release: Futuristic Novelette, Mangled, is Available for Purchase

Mangled is the artificial intelligence, virtual reality, military, scifi, horror story that was first published in the Midnight Roost anthology, but is now its own novelette!

 

This narrative follows Specialist Sarah Mitchell: 

 

The only survivor of a roadside bomb, Specialist Sarah Mitchell lives most people's nightmare. Her entire squad is killed. In the bustle of a busy emergency triage center, she is forgotten. 

 

Worse than being ignored, once she is reevaluated, the medical personnel then abandoned her. In order to take care of other soldiers who might live, she is given a black morgue tag, left tied down on a gurney where she waits for death in a dark corner of a foreign hospital.

When she survives until morning, others come to claim her. One by the use of technology and the other by energetic consciousness, but both manipulate the quantum singularity. In an experiment to merge human consciousness with machine, which will consume Sarah, what will she do? 

Will she continue to serve her country in another capacity? Or, will she choose the unknown and walk into eternity with a complete stranger?

No matter what Sarah decides: living forever has its consequences. 

 

In this new publication, the story becomes extended and part of the Legacy Universe.

Submission Release: The Initiation Submitted to Midnight Oil Anthology

The short story, The Initiation, was submitted to the Midnight Oil Anthology published by WordCrafter Press. The narrative leaves off where The Reality Hackers (Visions anthology, as well as Sonoran Dawn Studios novelette) did. John and Elleanor Chisum have been murdered, leaving their three children orphaned. 

The Chisums' daughter, Eliza, is finding her first year in college a challenge. When she writes a research paper for her introduction to physics course, the professor gives her a failing grade. Like her mother, Eliza sees beyond the five senses as a conduit of pure consciousness. 

The Initiation also provides a cameo from the popular character, Sarah Mitchell, from Mangled (Midnight Roost anthology, as well as Sonoran Dawn Studios' novelette) and Hode: Be Honor in Your Wars (Sonoran Dawn Studios' novel).   

This story is its own stand-alone novelette for publication through the Legacy Universe next year.

Mangled Cover Reveal

From the creative mind that gave readers: The Reality Hackers, comes a tale unlike any other written this century... 

With that said, the story needed an equally mystifying cover art. It took some time to find that perfect balance, but the universe of possibilities came together. Now, Undawnted is revealing the new book cover for the novelette version of the story, publishing in April of next year.

This creative write infuses the horror and science fiction genres and takes them into a futurist cascade of events that will leave the reader asking themselves what they would do in a similar position. 

New technologies like algorithms, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality are only the beginning of the changes to be seen in the world. 

 

But are these changes friend or foe? Mangled contemplates some of the questions surrounding humanity's future.

Mangled is being Edited for a Horror Anthology

Mangled is a short story that will be submitted for an anthology set to be released in Autumn 2023. I am currently editing the project based on a few actual events, technology, medicine, and warfare. The narrative is a science fiction, paranormal horror story.
