Undawnted Press Release: Saving the Conjuring House for Future Generations

Undawnted and the Paranormal

As a paranormal explorer, investigator, and researcher for over two decades, I support the saving of the Conjuring House.

Over the years, I visited various locations and have great stories to tell about them, including: The Whaley House, Star of India, and the now converted to an office building, the Santa Rita Hotel. I was immersed, so much so, that I became a horror journalist for the local speculative fiction society and wrote about my adventures to haunted locations.

The byline, as well as other columns (e.g., books, reviews, featured article, etc.), earned me three consecutive Media Press Badges at Comic-Con San Diego before my body collapsed due to my disabling health conditions. That's plural. I fight for my life every day, but I continue to support others' efforts to bring about positive outcomes in the world.

As I learned about myself, I am a sensitive to energies. A light in the dark. Understandably, the paranormal has been a constant companion throughout my life. At first, I did not understand the occurrences that I experienced from childhood, youth, and into adulthood until I confronted them. Now, I am at peace with the unknown.

However, as a history major, I would love for this home to be saved. It predates the establishment of the United States. The home and property are a treasure. History, if possible, should be salvaged, not destroyed.

If you can manage a few dollars, then please donate to this incredible cause: The Conjuring House -Together We Make History.

Thank you!

The Ask

How it all began was with a plea from Ms. Perron herself to Jason Hawes:

When I happened upon Jason Hawes of Ghost Hunters fame's video eight seconds after it debuted on YouTube, I rushed over and put in my $10 worth.

The Conjuring House -Together We Make History

Hello, I'm Jason Hawes.
Many of you may know me from Ghost Hunters.
I've dedicated my life to exploring the unknown and trying to make this field accessible for everyone.

I have never wanted to buy the Conjuring House. I’ve publicly stated this many times over the years, and I meant it.

But, I have been contacted by past owners, employees, residents, all begging me to step in and try to save this property from being exploited and priced out of the range of the majority of people.

If you are unaware, The Conjuring House is going up for auction on October 31'st.

If we don’t step in, there’s a very real chance it will be bought by some whose only goal is to turn it into a money making machine.

This isn’t just another piece of real estate. This house is an important part of paranormal history.

It's a place that has drawn all types of investigators. Believers, Non believers, skeptics, debunkers and those that are simply curious from all over the world.

For decades, it has connected people. It has sparked curiosity, debate, and exploration. It’s a place that has helped keep history alive, and it deserves to be preserved, not exploited.

I’ve decided to act because so many have asked for my help.
I believe that as a community, we can make a difference.

I’ve created this GoFundMe to raise funds needed to save the Conjuring House at auction.

I’ll personally add as much as possible to give us the best possible chance to succeed.

If we’re successful, the Conjuring House will be placed into an LLC and those from this properties history will help run it and keep it open.

Those who know and respect the true history of the property. They will oversee its day-to-day operations, keeping it open for tours, investigations, and anyone who wants to experience it.

I want to be clear:
I’m not looking to profit from this gofundme, and I have no plans to run the daily operations. This will cost me money!

I’m stepping in now for only one reason, because people I care deeply for asked me to.

Lets try to preserve this house and protect its legacy for the paranormal community and for future generations, and to keep it from being priced out of the majority of peoples ability.

This truly feels like the last chance to save the Conjuring House. If we don’t act now, we may lose it forever to some that want it to be a money making machine, who won’t honor its history or its significance.

I can’t do this alone. To succeed, I'm asking everyone who cares about this property, and about what it represents, to step up and help.

This could be historic!

Together, we can protect this piece of history and keep it accessible for all who want to walk through its doors.

Please consider donating today. Every contribution brings us one step closer to making sure the Conjuring House remains what it was always meant to be — a place to learn from, experience, and share for generations to come.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Every dollar raised in this campaign will go directly toward purchasing the Conjuring House at auction.

If we are successful at the auction, the property will be placed into an LLC and be run by those from its history that are dedicated to preserving it.

I want to be absolutely clear: I am not seeking to profit from this Gofundme.
My role here is clear. I have been asked to help save this property by Andrea Perron, and many others around the globe.

All I can do try!

This is a big undertaking, and I am willing to reconsider my position and help do what I can. This will take a historic movement!

Together, We can make sure it remains open for tours, investigations, and visitors for generations to come.

If we do not win the auction, Refunds will be granted "unless a donor chooses to have their contribution directed toward other historic preservation efforts".

If we succeed and raise more than what is needed to purchase the property, any surplus will be used for restoration, repairs, maintenance, and updates that keep the history and significance of the house alive.

No raffles, No sweepstakes, No giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe.

Stayin' Alive, All By Myself... I am on a Roll to Better Outcomes

I know. I have been gone awhile, but I have been doing what I needed to do.

After four years of being told that I could not get a refinance loan or any type of loan, not because of bad credit, but because I had already financed my property at the lowest available rate. The banks would not refinance if I could not get a lower rate by at least one percentage point.

I was stuck. I had already received air conditioning finance estimates starting at $150 a month for four years. On a fixed income, that was not doable.

So I had tried three or four times over the duration, but not through covid, to raise the $7500 that I had been quoted for a new system. I live in Arizona. Central air is about survival, not luxury. A handful of friends flocked to my banner, but the amount raised ($350ish) was nowhere near enough to purchase a unit.

The art and writing communities at large never bothered once. That was disheartening from my point of view. For communities that push love, light, and inclusion for everyone... I was very much excluded. Sounds like that ideology is just an excuse to be prejudiced against people they do not agree with.

I disagree with many people, but have never left someone to die. I help where I can and I have helped a lot. Far more than many people who claim to be inclusive.

Even though certain communities have disappointed me, at least I know I still have friends and a shit load of good luck... see, when you are a good person, you get that type of help from the universe.

Annual percentage rates lowered and my excellent credit afforded me a great refinance package, which led to a new and top of the line air conditioner for an excellent price. After nearly five years of constant worry, I am safe and cool. I will finally have a heater in the winter time too. That means I will be able to write my novels again.

I am so happy.

The universe rewards good deeds and people. While most of you were stuck in your homes during covid... now you know how I live and feel being this sick... I was protecting all of you from hunger and homelessness.

So don't let newly elected politicians tell you that the $1400 was because of them; it was because of me. Just so you know. People take credit for my deeds when they had nothing to do with my work.

I have a few items to do yet, but I will be actively writing poetry and novels this summer. I will be posting more writing exercises too. Although, I will not be updating my Facebook accounts because that social media conglomerate does not believe in factual information that I have provided to my friend's list for over ten years. I am now locked out of my personal and professional accounts, but don't you worry, I always land on my feet.

Life is good now.

I am still going to tell the truth and change the world for the better. That is coming. The wheels are already in motion by good people all over the world. Some people will not accept or like the change, but that is not my problem. I only solve them.

Speaking of solutions: nothing can stop what is coming.

I made a plan and I am sticking to it. You may just like what I am about to do. Who knows, you may just want to get in on the action yourself.

More information in the coming weeks. Watch for news coming out of Sonoran Dawn Studios

Watch for my new books and cover designs.

I am Stayin' Alive, All By Myself as the songs go: I am on a roll.

Have a great and wonderful day.

Transferable Skills

You may have heard this terminology while working on your resume. Skills that you have learned in one job or position are transferable into the next stage of your career. So learning in any capacity is helpful in the climb upward.

In the last few weeks, I have been assisting fellow author, Kaye Lynn Booth with the Book Cover Art Event being held on Facebook. Sunday we will find out if we have made it to the 3rd Round. So be sure to vote for Delilah in the coming days!

As I was looking around the internet and on Facebook writer's groups for some advice and help, I was confronted by the question: why is it YOUR responsibility to do this Book Cover Event?

I was struck by the negative tone. My responsibility? I hadn't thought of it exactly in those terms. I had been having fun with the project.

That seemed to be the crux of what I have been discussing here on my site about the corporatization of the writing craft. For decades writers have clamored to get their books published through the big publishing houses. The stepping on each other for a chance at publication has damaged the community as well as our camaraderie.

How can the phrase: "transferable skills" bring sanity back into the writing community? The Independent Writers of the world can remember that self-publishing loosens the chains once tugged on by corporate entities. Corporations are only in our community for profits, not to move culture forward.

I see this corporate philosophy in writers' groups. I have had to recently excuse myself from one because the political climate became offensive to me. I said my peace and moved on. There was backlash of people unfriending and unliking my pages because writers have been embolden by the politics of ego.  For people who write about the human condition, some writers are oblivious to it.

No, it is not all right to make fun of other people, push your political ideology, or sexual/gender issues onto other writers because the administrator deemed it a "Safe Space." Safe for whom? If I had run an experiment to see how the same group would have responded to political statements and bullying from the opposite side of the spectrum. . . yeah, the reaction would have be epic.

The corporate philosophy of fight amongst yourselves for this one spot on our list is over. Writers need to reevaluate what the writing craft means to them. Is it push come to shove, or learning what being in a community actually means?

Back to the question: why is it my responsibility? Isn't it everyone's? We have allowed ourselves to believe we have no responsibility to the bigger, wider world because corporations want to keep our thoughts, dreams, and aspirations small: a publishing contract. When in reality, the writing craft is about transferable skills.

My book cover art for: Delilah, written by Kaye Lynne Booth is a stepping stone into that wider world. I have gained as much as I have put into the project. I may not get anything of monetary value through this exploit, but I have received other rewards of learning new skills, obtaining a nomination, and understanding the fundamentals of online book events.

I could not have gotten any new and viable experiences hiding behind my keyboard and screen.

Now I have transferable skills to assist me in my own solitary endeavors on Undawnted, and the expansion on Sonoran Dawn Studios

When will the writing community at large step out of the shadows and back into the light?

I don't know about you. . . but I sure do like to win.

Have a great and wonderful day.
