Rain Showers and October Flowers

A scary, electric thunderstorm rolled through my neighborhood this evening.

The storm appeared to build on top of our area as an orange sun set in the distance. The cloud to cloud lightning illuminated the sky in muted tones of blue and white. The trees and bushes swayed under the wind bursts and blows. The rain splattered and spit until the gush of a downpour soaked everything in its path.

The last surge of the monsoon was the best one of the season. Finally the parched earth saw some measure of moist relief. The dirty air from previous dust storms was cleaned as the smell of humidity doused the otherwise hot and dry molecules. A faint odor of ozone hung between the hydrogen and oxygen covalent bonds. The air was indeed electric to the smell as well as touch.

Now the season is over.

Will this rainy evening bring with it flowers in October? Or just the memory of the last vestiges of summer spilling over into an autumn night? Sunflowers have hidden away to sleep until the sun rises in half a day's hours.

The night is calm once again. The stars beam their lights. The nestled birds are quiet upon the wind.

Have a great and wonderful day.

In the Name of Blood Countdown

With the close of September looming, a new release is set for publication in October.

My Halloween themed poetry book: The Descent is already making waves. Next to come is my fiction novel: In the Name of Blood

I know what you are thinking... not another vampire story. Well that is the advantage of my creative writing:  I do not write anything that is derivative. I write authentic, original stories and poetry.

My characters tell me how they want to be represented... no teenie bopper story lines here. My characters are mature adults with an attitude all their own.

So if you are on the fence about my writing, don't be. My writing has received many great reviews from fellow writers and authors during the rewriting, editorial, and constructive critique processes.

Plus, the writing is free for the first two weeks. So have fun and read an interesting, character driven story with a good plot and development.

In the Name of Blood is due out October 16, 2016 and will be free until 11:59pm on Halloween.

The Descent is available now until October 1, 2016 for free, then will turn fee based.

What more could you ask for?

Have a great and wonderful day!

Autumn Brings a Chill

A cooler night and morning are on their way. Autumn is that time of year when the light equal the darkness, sweaters are needed for that evening walk, and the leaves turn beautiful colors across the higher terrains.

The warm sultriness of the monsoon has faded. Insects have begun their transition into the slumber of hibernation. Winter is on her way, but not until autumn has his way.

Eventually, leaves will crinkle and fall. In the end, so will we all. Evening is upon us.  We will watch as the nights grow longer and the stars glisten evermore above.

Autumn brings a chill so light a lantern to guide us on our way.

What do you love about the change of seasons?

Have a great and wonderful day.

Move Over Recipes!

Nonfiction was getting crowded.

With the help of Sonoran Dawn Studios, publishing company, I revised the Lulu Author Spotlight to accommodate another section. So the Nonfiction essays are listed together. Food and home recipes are now in the section labeled: Recipes

That is much better. Less clutter means more fun.

Minders, Notebooks, and Journals

The artist in me had to create a stylish look for 2017.

Under the Sonoran Dawn Studios' Essentials brand, I have launched date minders, notebooks and journals. Users can write, draw, and create to their heart's desire.

So far the cover art and coordinates have yielded sets named: Perfect Harmony and Modern Dance. Other artwork is on the way to make this collection beyond the imagination.

Ring the New Year early and let 2017 be the best year ever!

The Confidence Game

On a social media site, I was contacted for a grant.

I had been in the educational realm long enough that I know what a scholarship, a grant, and a scam is. The play: I would receive $150,000 for a $600 case file and delivery fee. I had to laugh at that crap.

I am disabled. I barely have enough money for me, why would I want to gamble my security for someone else's duplicity?

So if you are discovered by someone for a grant, well, make sure you get your money for nothing. I don't pay to play, I don't send money. I do not give out account numbers. If you are real, then you really will help out someone like me.

No strings attached.

I am tired of the confidence game. Or, should I say: gain?

Have a great and wonderful day!

All Beginnings Begin with Another Chapter's End

Autumn is right around the corner but summer still lingers on.

The cooler mornings have arrived. The gentle breezes summon the desert's occupants to awaken from their heat comas and rise to meet the world. The desert is alive once more at the stroke of midnight.

Summer cannot hold out much longer. Mother Nature will have her way. Autumn is coming...

Less than three weeks away from the autumnal solstice and Halloween already calls. What spooky nights lie ahead is anyone's guess. The night is ready for her close-up.

How about you? Are you ready to end the summer and begin the third chapter of a four season year?

Have a great and wonderful day!
